Roger Berg III
Roger Berg is our new Business Manager at Christ the King! Roger grew up in Shawnee Kansas and attended St. Joseph Catholic school from preschool to eighth grade. He then attended Shawnee Mission Northwest and received his Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Organizational Leadership from Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas. He has a varied and expansive work history. He was appointed and elected to the Garden City, MO City Council and served for a term of three years. To date, he still holds the recognition of being the youngest City Alderman in Garden City to be both appointed and elected. Roger then worked for McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips Law Firm as the Filing Coordinator and Human Resources Assistant. He comes to us directly from Cerner, where he worked as a Physician Alignment Consultant and traveled all over the United States.
Roger is blessed with his loving wife Holly, and two beautiful daughters Alexis and Andie who are ten and eleven respectively. His family of four recently moved back to his hometown of Shawnee and are enjoying being close to friends and family. He has a variety of interests including fishing, auto mechanics, and he is an avid Kansas basketball fan. He has coached basketball at every level from first grade GABL to Highschool JV and varsity for both boys and girls.
He is very excited to be at Christ the King, where he hopes to bring life and community involvement back to the Parish. His door is always open, and he encourages people to get involved and find their passion here at the Church.
Mayra Campos is the new parish secretary. Mayra is the daughter of Norma and Ruben Campos, owners of Chelly’s Cafe. Mayra has two siblings, Martha and Mark. Mayra grew up in the Waldo area and attended school in the Center School district for many years. Mayra graduated from Raymore-Peculiar High School in 2016. Before arriving at Christ the King Mayra served as File Coordinator at McAnany, Van Cleave, and Phillips. Mayra has experience in being a nanny and in the restaurant industry. Mayra is currently a student at Park University seeking a degree in Legal Studies. Mayra enjoys photography, reading books, traveling, and baking in her free time.
Katherine Schmitz is an organist, vocalist, and conductor who has called Kansas her home for the past six years. Originally from Sugar Land, TX, she serves as the Director of Music at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. At Christ the King, Katherine serves as the principal organist and directs two parish choirs for both the Ordinary and Extraordinary Form liturgies. In addition to her church job, Katherine is the artistic director for two local choral ensembles, the Lux Mundi Schola Cantorum and the Sursum Corda Polyphonic Ensemble.
Outside of her various musical jobs, Katherine enjoys being a wife to Erich and fulfilling the distinguished title of “Mommy” bestowed upon her by their toddler, Benedict. Her hobbies and interests include all things Gregorian chant and perfecting the art of gluten-free baking. Her husband, Erich, is working on his PhD in Physics from the University of Kansas.
Katherine holds a Doctorate in Church Music from the University of Kansas earned in 2017. Previous degrees include a Master of Sacred Music with organ emphasis from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor’s of Music in organ performance from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. Former teachers include James Higdon, Michael Bauer, Craig Cramer, Delbert Disselhorst, and David Heller.
